  1. During centuries people committed crimes and, certain, not always they were punished or weren’t responsible for it. А law was established for this purpose to reduce quantity offenses and in order to fairly punish offenders.
First and foremost, I would like to understand what is the main factor in committing crimes. Doubtless, we all have different lives but you can always solve problems and, to my mind, person who commits crime is in despair.
Despite this, cause of real criminals suffer an innocent people, who are convicted of crimes that they didn’t commit, and it is upsetting.
Secondly, I feel like to tell about complicated film “Extremely wicked”, based on a true story. Young man was accused in more than 30 awful murders and was sentenced to death penalty on electricity chair. In conclusion, on my opinion, in extremely rude cases like this – it’s the only possible punishment.

  2. The death penalty is the deprivation of life of a person because of the crimes he has committed. These actions are carried out according to the court verdict, and accordingly provided by the legislation of a particular state. In countries such as the United States, China and Iran, punishment is widely used. In some states, it is still used as a measure of punishment for especially serious crimes. And in most cases, such a law no longer exists, because it was repealed where it has not been used for a long time.
I cannot say that I believe that this is unacceptable or vice versa. Probably, in those countries where there is a law on the death penalty, even if it remains, where it has not existed for many years, it will not exist. For example, such cases as rape of children, tiny girls in most cases, this is unacceptable, and those who do it are simply put in the police, in my opinion, it is not fair that those people who stole something and those who do so horrible things in prison live the same. Therefore, I will not vote against the death penalty provided by law.

  3. The death penalty is discriminatory. It is often used against the most vulnerable sections of society, including the poor, ethnic and religious minorities, and people with mental disabilities. Some governments use it to silence their opponents. Where justice systems are flawed and unfair trials are common, there is always a risk of the death penalty for an innocent person. When the death penalty is carried out, it is final. Mistakes that have been made cannot be eradicated. An innocent person may be released from prison for a crime they did not commit, but the execution can never be reversed. By opposing the death penalty, I am not trying to minimise or indulge in crime. But as many bereaved families say, the death penalty cannot truly alleviate their suffering. It only extends that suffering to the family of the convict. Death penalty laws falsely convince the public that the government has taken effective measures to combat crime and murder. In reality, such laws do not protect us or our communities from the actions of dangerous criminals. Because there is no credible evidence that the death penalty prevents crime more effectively than imprisonment. In fact, the number of crimes in countries that have banned the death penalty has not increased. In some cases, they have actually decreased. In Canada, the murder rate in 2008 was less than half that in 1976, when the death penalty was abolished there. Human rights, including the most basic right to life, are universal and endorsed by the vast majority of countries in the world. My call for an end to the death penalty is consistent with the mercy, compassion and forgiveness emphasised by all major world religions. Today 140 countries have abolished the death penalty in law and in practice, demonstrating that the desire to end the death penalty is shared by cultures and societies in almost every region of the world.

  4. The highest punishment in the modern world is the death penalty. In some countries it is treated in a civilized way, while others continue to use less humane, sometimes even barbaric methods of execution, hanging, and beheading.

There are many supporters and opponents of this type of punishment in the world, even in countries where the death penalty is prohibited, many people are in favor of its introduction for particularly serious crimes.

I believe that if a person has committed a particularly serious crime, the death penalty can be used as a punishment. If a criminal has taken the lives of several people, we have the right to take their lives. Thus, we can reduce the number of crimes.

Due to overly humane legislation in some countries around the world, serial killers and terrorists with dozens of lives have already been or may be released.

  5. In my opinion, the death penalty in the modern world is better not to use, except in extremely serious cases.
I believe that such punishment takes place in countries where there is no corruption in the judiciary, political, religious, persecution, prejudice against people with low social and economic status. For example, in China, according to unofficial data, 2-3 thousands people are executed every year. Are murders and thieves really being accused, not oppositionists, journalists, ethnic minorities? This is an irreversible punishment and the risks of a wrongful sentence cannot be tolerated.
Furthermore, death penalty is more expensive than life imprisonment. In the United States alone, life imprisonment costs about $ 740,000 per person, while the death penalty costs more than $ 1 million. This is the total amount of the lethal injection, the courts, the appeal, the lawyers and the detention of the prisoner, as it can sometimes take decades from the time of sentencing to execution.
Nevertheless I am more against the death penalty. I think that such a punishment should apply in solitary instances, 100% proven cases and treason.

  6. The death penalty is the ultimate punishment. It consists of execution, which was a particularly serious crime. To date, many countries have renounced the death penalty. The death penalty is a very effective method of preventing new crimes. Potential criminals look at such an example for fear of possible illegal actions.

On the one hand, I am in favor of the death penalty. I understand that she is inhumane and cruel. But there are cases when people should be responsible for their actions with their own lives. This happens when a person takes others. Violent killings, including of children, abuse of defense, and torture, must be held fully accountable.

But on the other hand. And if a person was accused of not doing or framed. If an innocent person is in prison, he still has a chance for justice.

In my opinion, the death penalty should be used only in countries where justice is developed. Otherwise, many innocent people may suffer.

  7. The death penalty is the ultimate punishment. It consists in the execution, which was a particularly serious crime, or which was exposed in the implementation of actions contrary to public policy.

The death penalty was used at some stage of development in almost all countries. In these, the death penalty was used in the development. However, some countries still use it under the law. The most common types of death penalty are execution, hanging and beheading

  8. The death penalty is the deprivation of life of a person as a punishment provided by state law and carried out in accordance with a court judgment or a decision of another state or military body. In many countries, the death penalty has already been abolished, but there are countries where the death penalty is widely used, such as China, Iran and the United States.
This was one of the reasons for the abolition of the death penalty in Ukraine, where the moratorium on executions first came into force in 1995, shortly before joining the international organization. In 1999, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized that the death penalty contradicted the Constitution of Ukraine, thus finally closing the way to its restoration.
In my opinion, the death penalty would be a just sentence for serious crimes, because it is not fair to imprison in the same conditions a person who has committed a serious crime, including rape, murder and a person who robbed something and the like. Therefore, my opinion is that the death penalty should be present in countries.

  9. My opinion on the execution of criminals is ambiguous, I cannot define it in one word.

On the one hand, I am in favor of the death penalty. I understand that she is inhumane and cruel. And in general, it is not European. Yes, life is given by God, so people have no right to take it away. But there are cases when people should be responsible for their actions with their own lives. This happens when a person takes the lives of others. Violent killings, including of children, abuse of defense, and torture, must be held fully accountable.

Of course, I understand that the introduction of the death penalty is unlikely to reduce crime in the country. But if someone has despised the very essence of humanity, he is no longer human.

It is said that life imprisonment for criminals is worse than execution. But probably not for everyone. Maniac Andriy Chikatilo was very afraid of being shot, he wrote a request for pardon to the last. I wanted to live! Ukrainian Onoprienko, at least forever, will read books in solitary confinement, as his “colleague” now does. Is this a punishment for terrible crimes ?!

But I am against the death penalty being introduced in our country right now. We do not have such a developed justice. And if a person is innocent? If it was “framed” and the investigation and the court did not want to understand the truth? If the police hastily arrested “who passed by”? When Onoprienko’s serial killer was caught in Ukraine, a stranger was first arrested. Confessions were “knocked out” of him, and he died under torture …

If an innocent person is in prison, he still has a chance for justice. So in the Zaporozhye region the guy spent five years as the serial killer, nobody wanted to communicate with his family. And then the real culprit was caught, the guy was released. He has been through a lot, but alive. And if an innocent person was shot, they would apologize to him posthumously. So once another person was shot for a crime committed by Andriy Chikatilo.

And strangely enough, I believe that the death penalty can only be used in a country with developed justice. Otherwise, instead of punishing evil in society, it will become another evil.

  10. Is the death penalty an appropriate punishment for serious crimes?

Every year in different countries, criminals who have committed certain crimes are imprisoned. For some it is a theft in a store, and for others it is the murder of a person. According to the gravity of the crime, the court decides what the punishment will be. For example, it could be: a fine, confiscation of property, arrest, correctional labor, service restrictions for servicemen, life imprisonment. Among the countries punishing the death penalty are: China, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Egypt, Japan, North Korea, Taiwan and others.
Most countries around the world have completely abolished the death penalty, which I agree with. But since 2018, the number of executions in the United States, Belarus, Singapore, Thailand, South Sudan, Japan and Vietnam has only increased. The death penalty includes: gas chamber, electric chair, lethal injection, execution.
There have been many cases in history when a person was executed, and after a while his innocence was proved.

  11. The death penalty is the punishment for a crime committed by a person. It is carried out – according to the verdict of the court. In most countries, this punishment has already been abolished, but in some, such as China, Iran and the United States, this method is still used. In my opinion, this is cruel and in some cases fair! There is no need to abolish this punishment, so there are still very cruel crimes for which you should not be imprisoned. For example, a person killed 5 children – he should immediately receive the death penalty. Therefore, I am for the death penalty, so that it is provided for by law!

  12. Most people do not think that some may be innocent and that they did not commit these crimes. “Do you need the death penalty?” This is one of the most controversial issues in the modern world. I believe that this type of punishment is inexpedient because even arbitrary imprisonment is the best way out of this situation.
During the years of imprisonment, a person will be able to rethink his life and correct himself. We must remember that most people are not guilty of their crimes – they were framed! And when they are sentenced to death, it is even worse, because then the court itself stands up as thieves, murderers who took innocent lives.
Moreover, the death penalty seriously affects others. People understand that a person close to them will soon die, which is very harmful to their psychological state. Some people think that the death penalty is important because it can keep people from committing crimes.
However, in my opinion, this is inappropriate, because it denies all international human rights. I am convinced that no country has the right to pass such a sentence on thieves.

    1. There is probably no worse punishment in the world than the death penalty. Indeed, to deserve this, a crime must be inhumane. But today, fortunately, most countries have renounced this type of punishment.

Personally, my attitude to death sentences has two views: positive and negative. I’ll start with the positive. What do you think is human life? This is the most perfect creation of the Most High, this is holiness. Therefore, no person has the right to take this life. Such a sin cannot be redeemed until the end of the ages. Sins, such as murder and torture of the defenseless, must be neutralized by death sentences. First, it is true. Second, other criminals will rethink their actions.
But there is another side of the coin – injustice. There are cases in the judiciary where completely innocent people have been wrongly convicted. And one thing, if it’s just a criminal record in the colony. Another is to take the life of such a person.
